Places Matter!

Welcome to Places Matter!

Places Matter! is an Architecture & Built Environment Centre and a member of the Architecture Centre Network. The programme facilitates improved decision making and commissioning skills, as well as increased awareness of, and expectations for, high quality design amongst clients and developers.

Places Matter! is an innovative programme of built environment activities which include the Northwest Design Review Panel offering expert advice to public and private sector clients, a major research project into the economic value of good design, a schools education programme and a public realm good practice guide

Places Matter because of their importance in driving economic activity and in helping to determine quality of life. They are the essential fabric for where we live, work, learn and play.

The quality of buildings, streets, squares, markets and parks are not only important individually, but are key in contributing towards defining a place.

Much of the Places Matter! programme is delivered with and through partner organisations including RIBA North West, the Northwest Regional Development Agency and CABE.
